26–29 March 2024, EXPOCENTRE Fairgrounds, Moscow, Russia
Photonics. World of Lasers and Optics 2024 has run successfully at EXPOCENTRE Fairgrounds, Moscow, Russia.
The show has grown significantly in terms of space and the number of exhibitors compared to last year. This proves that it is in demand as an effective professional platform for networking between industry participants.
Ivan Kovsh, President at the Laser Association:
“Our exhibition provides a great opportunity for equipment manufacturers to exchange experiences, and find new suppliers and buyers. Those who use this equipment will be able to learn in four days about everything that is happening in the industry: who is doing what and at what level. And, of course, we hope that the exhibition will also become a great place for those who are just preparing to become photonics experts – for young people and students. This year we have an extremely active job fair, which has already received a huge number of offers from employers.”

“Real geniuses have gathered here. They present their innovations, ideas and achievements in the field of laser and optical technologies. It is encouraging that more than half of the participants are Russian companies. Today we cannot even imagine life without the Internet, without optical fibre, and we cannot move forward in this world without photonics.”
At the opening ceremony, Ivan Kovsh, President at the Laser Association, cited data according to which the rate of renewal of the equipment demonstrated at the show had increased by about 30-40%, i.e. it is increasing “at an unprecedented rate” for our country. This is partly due to the need to switch to Russian-made components, and partly due to the growing demand of the economy and society for such equipment.

Show highlights
The main feature of this year’s show was the number of innovations demonstrated in various areas of photonics. The visitors saw equipment in action and got acquainted with new products for laser radiation sources and their components, optoelectronics, laser and optical test and measuring equipment, as well as optical systems, additive manufacturing, and data transmission systems.
The event participants included Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Saint-Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation, Saint-Petersburg State Marine Technical University, the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, etc.
Many new products are completely domestic developments, which were worked on by Russian researchers and experts.
A special place in the show was occupied by products that were presented to the market for the first time.
VSCAM demonstrated a machine vision camera, a monochrome high-speed video camera with an interface that allows remote parameter setting, data collection and processing, and a technical endoscope.
Laser technology solutions were demonstrated by TermoLazer and the Central Research Institute of Laser Equipment and Technologies. They included laser technological complexes for scanning, marking and 2D branding of metal products, as well as a mobile laser non-volatile unit for local heat treatment of the surface layer of parts and repair and restoration cladding, which allows processing large-sized objects and changing their shape.
Representatives of Tirphotonics told about their photonic gas sensor, which allows identifying the composition or presence of various molecules in gases or liquids. According to Andrey Trifonov, the company’s researcher, photonics has been developing rapidly recently and is finding its applications in various quantum technologies. The show allows to find potential customers and also gives an opportunity to compare developments and products with the results of other companies that work in this field.
ONSINT demonstrated three models of printing equipment.
The stand of Bauman Moscow State Technical University presented laser devices and systems, holographic technologies, gas analysers, illuminating microstructures, devices based on photonic integrated circuits, and methods of non-dispersive spectroscopy. The university departments demonstrated the implementation of major projects in which young professionals, graduate students and postgraduate students of the university took part along with researchers.
Chinese companies showed great interest in the exhibition as 110 manufacturers from China brought a wide range of products and technological solutions, particularly in the field of optoelectronic monitoring systems, laser systems, microelectronics, optical components, sensors, and much more.
