PHOTONICS. THE WORLD OF LASERS AND OPTICS’2009

16 / 04 / 2009

On April 20 – 23, Expocentre Fairgrounds, Pavilion No.3 hosts Photonics. The World of Lasers and Optics’2009, the 4th International Exhibition for Optical, Laser, and Optoelectronic Technologies, Completing Units and Components.

The Exhibition, organized by Expocentre and the Laser Association, is held with the support and assistance of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Belarusian State Committee for Science and Technology, the European Optics Society (EOS), the Technology Center of the German Engineering Association (VDI-TZ), and runs under the auspices of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation and the Moscow Government. The label of RUEF - the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs, proudly carried by the event, confirms a high standard of organization of this unique show, and its contribution to the industry development.

Photonics. The World of Lasers and Optics is a leading exhibition event of the Russian laser and optical industry. It annually brings together developers, suppliers and consumers of laser and optics equipment from over 10 countries. A wide international participation in the exhibition makes it really representative, and fully demonstrates the current development trends for laser and optical technology.

Launched in 2006, the Exhibition has evolved into the largest professional show, and has earned a status of a highly efficient place to demonstrate recent achievements of the laser and optical industry, and conclude tangible contracts.

As a high-technology industry, photonics provides solutions for almost every sphere of human activity, from industrial production and medicine to show business.  Leading European experts consider photonics to be the key driving force of innovations in the 21st century.

This year the exhibition stand space takes up a total of 3,000 sqm gross, which exceeds 1,200 sqm net. 115 companies from Great Britain, Germany, China, Lithuania, Netherlands, Belarus, Russia, USA, Ukraine, Switzerland, Sweden and Japan take part in the 2009 edition of the event. Despite the relative density the Exhibition continues to grow involving new developments to showcase from year to year.

Industry professionals and ultimate consumers will see laser emitters and accessories; optical materials, treatment technologies; optical elements, units and systems; fiber-optic equipment; laser equipment for cutting, welding, marking and other materials treatment technologies; laser and optical control equipment; computer vision equipment, sensors, detectors; night vision devices, optical and laser sights; optoelectronics, nanophotonics; optical systems of information registration, storage, processing and communication; photonics-derived biomedical equipment; laser medicine; photo-electronics, solar power.

Also the Exhibition features displays, equipment for light show, LEDs, illumination engineering, lighting and illumination systems; holographic equipment and materials; laser technologies in advertising and souvenirs production; safety laser-optical equipment; research investigations equipment and facilities; laser and optical services; innovation centres, centres of technologies transfer; personnel training and dataware.

The Exhibition participants include laser and optical enterprises, independent dealers of the biggest companies; research institutes and organizations, service centres; key educational institutions from Russia and the CIS.

A lot of renowned foreign companies such as Hamamatsu Photonics (Sweden), NP Photonics (USA), Synova (Switzerland), TRUMPF (Germany), just to name a few, will demonstrate their high quality photonic products.

All of the leading Russian laser and optical industry manufacturers (numbering over 70) including Avesta Project, Laser Center, IRE-Polyus, LOMO, Polyus, Spectrum Laser, Laser Technologies Centre and Elektrosteklo will take part in the event. The exhibitors will showcase a wide range of value for money products that successfully compete with those manufactured by overseas producers.

From year to year the Exhibition presents an ever-increasing number of opportunities for laser and optical industry professionals to network.  A tight programme of additional events with Russian and foreign leading specialists participating accompanies the Exhibition. This year the event programme will comprise first ever thematic days for laser and optical professionals to exchange knowledge and experience, discuss issues relating to the development and application of laser, optical and optoelectronic equipment in industry, science, medicine, advertising, show business and other fields.

The 20th of April is declared the Industry Day. Its programme includes a seminar entitled “Laser Manufacturing Equipment in the CIS Market”; a joint meeting of the Supervisory, and the Science and Technology Councils of the Laser Association with the Photonics Exhibitions Programme Committee to discuss “Practical Application of Laser and Optical Technology in the Real Sector of the Russian Economy: State, Problems, Possibilities”, and a round table entitled “Anti-crisis’2009:  Issues of Current Importance Relating to the Innovative Industrial Development of a Company and Corporate Governance Amid the Financial and Economic Crisis”.

The key events within the Day of Science and Education, scheduled on 21st April, are “Breakthrough Trends in Modern Photonics”, a conference; “Optical Interferometry for Precision Measurement” a Russian-German Seminar; and “German Optical Technology at the Photonics Exhibition”, a seminar. Round-table discussions will cover various aspects of higher education curricula in the field of photonics; issues relating to specific features of training and the present-day importance of graduates mastering in photonics. Representatives of Russia’s leading educational and scientific centres will convey their experience with specializations in the field of photonics.

The 22nd of April, the Day of Medicine, Science and Innovations, will comprise events to highlight laser medicine possibilities, to cover issues on investing in innovations and present equipment for the laser and optical industry.

On 23 April, the Day of Advertising and Show Technology, the Laser Show Systems and Displays Section of the Laser Association will hold an organizational meeting. A working meeting between the Members of the Science and Technology Council of the Laser Association Scientific and the OptecNet Deutschland Association representatives will take place on this date as well.

Also, this year the Exhibition offers an unprecedented opportunity to see presentations by largest Russian and foreign exhibitors to be given in the specially arranged Presentation Area.

Exhibition Opening Hours: 20-22 April 10:00 – 18:00
