The Photonics 2024 exhibition opened at EXPOCENTRE
The 18th International Exhibition for Laser, Optical and Optoelectronic Technologies – Photonics. World of Lasers and Optics 2024 has opened at EXPOCENTRE Fairgrounds. The exhibition is organised by EXPOCENTRE AO jointly with the Laser Association under the auspices of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
More than 260 manufacturers and suppliers of laser, optical and optoelectronic products from Armenia, China, Belarus and Russia on the area of 4,500 sq. m. present the latest equipment samples, innovations in various areas of photonics, including laser radiation sources and laser equipment, fibre optic equipment and equipment for measurements and testing, optoelectronics and nanophotonics, as well as laser equipment for medicine, plant growing, nature management and many other areas.
More than 100 Chinese companies, including leading manufacturers of laser equipment and components, presented their products and services at the Photonics 2024 exhibition.
The conference programme of the exhibition reflects all the main trends in the modern laser and optoelectronics market. The key event will be the 12th Congress of the Photonics Technology Platform, which will include 19 conferences on industry topics.
At the official opening ceremony of the exhibition, Sergey Selivanov, First Deputy Director General at EXPOCENTRE AO, stressed that Photonics 2024 has grown by 50% in terms of the exhibition area and the number of exhibitors compared to last year. Its key feature and important component is a rich comprehensive programme, which this year will combine more than 30 events.
Vladimir Padalko, Vice-President at the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, noted the increased share of Russian companies among the exhibitors.
“Absolute geniuses have gathered here, presenting their innovations, ideas and achievements in the field of laser and optical technologies, and it is encouraging that more than half of the participants are Russian companies. Today we cannot even imagine life without the Internet, without optical fibre, and we cannot move forward in this world without photonics,” said Vladimir Padalko.
According to Ivan Kovsh, President of the Laser Association, the growing number of exhibitors is a direct proof that the photonics industry is “alive and growing”. Ivan Kovsh cited data according to which the rate of renewal of the equipment demonstrated at the exhibition has increased by about 30-40%, i.e. it is increasing “at an unprecedented rate” for our country. This is partly due to the need to switch to Russian-made components, and partly due to the growing demand of the economy and society for such equipment.
The official opening ceremony of the exhibition was attended by heads of major Russian enterprises, representatives of science and authorities.
The Photonics 2024 exhibition runs until 29 March.
